Technician - Materials Testing

Description

• Perform material testing of soils, aggregates, asphalt concrete, and concrete in labs and on construction sites.
• Follow applicable specifications, standards, and public health and safety procedures.
• Record field and lab data legibly and generate test reports.
• Communicate project information with team members, contractors, and owners' representatives.
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper functioning.

Requirements

DLZ is seeking entry‑level individuals eager to work hard and learn new skills for the role of Technician – Materials Testing in Western Pennsylvania. The company will provide the training needed to succeed in laboratory and field testing of soils, aggregates, asphalt concrete, and concrete.

The position requires adherence to specifications, accurate data collection, report generation, equipment maintenance, and strict safety practices, while communicating effectively with project teams, contractors, and owners.

Candidates must be high‑school graduates or equivalent, possess strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and be punctual. Ability to lift 50 lb, reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to work weekends, holidays, or overtime are required. Preferred certifications include ACI Concrete Field, NECEPT Concrete, NECEPT Bituminous Field Technician, Nuclear Densometer Safety with Hazmat, and relevant NICET certifications.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to lift 50 lb, reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and pass MVR check.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Preferred experience with e‑Builder software.
• Preferred certifications: ACI Concrete Field, NECEPT Concrete, NECEPT Bituminous Field Technician, Nuclear Densometer Safety with Hazmat, NICET Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils).
