In this role you will work across several UK water authorities—primarily United Utilities—within multidisciplinary design teams. Responsibilities include preparing design submissions to meet contract requirements, undertaking feasibility, concept, preliminary and detailed design studies, and liaising with clients, contractors and other stakeholders to strengthen relationships and the company's reputation.
- Design civil engineering solutions for water treatment, distribution, wastewater recycling, industrial process water, desalination, irrigation, hydropower and flood defence.
- Work with UK water authorities, primarily United Utilities, within multidisciplinary design teams.
- Prepare design submissions ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
- Conduct feasibility, concept, preliminary and detailed design studies.
- Interface with clients, contractors and stakeholders to build strong relationships.

Candidates must hold a civil engineering degree and be chartered or near‑chartered (ICE or equivalent), with proven water or wastewater engineering design experience. Strong verbal and written communication, a proactive attitude and a focus on health, safety and the environment are essential. Desirable skills include digital capability with tools such as Civils 3D, GIS or pipeline hydraulics software and experience developing low‑carbon solutions.
- Hold a civil engineering degree and chartered (or near‑chartered) ICE status.
- Demonstrated experience in water and/or wastewater engineering design.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on health, safety and environment.
- Proactive and adaptable approach to changing project scenarios.
- Desirable: proficiency in Civils 3D, GIS, pipeline hydraulics software and involvement in low‑carbon solutions.
