Summer Intern, Engineering

Description

• Assist the Facility Engineers in addressing day-to-day technical issues and concerns that impact tenants and/or facility operations.
• Assist in preparation of presentation or white paper report for special projects assigned.
• Assist the Facility Engineer in project development and design.
• Assist in gathering data related to facility environmental, operations, and asset management.Update the databases using excel, ArcGIS, Maximo, and/or relevant programs.
• Attend meetings and inspections for facility projects.
• Assist in reviewing Engineering drawings and documentation to incorporate facility’s comments.
• Lead meetings with Facility Managers, gather information regarding critical business functions, systems, and vendors and gain an understanding of potential business continuity
• Present a report on work that was completed during the internship.
• Conduct site visits to collect project data and prepare status reports on investigations and complete work.

Requirements

• In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.
• Major in Civil, Mechanical, or other engineering related majors or related discipline
• Ability to opt in to the New York State and Local Retirement System
• Must be able to drive and possess a valid driver's license
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to operate Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel
• Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
• Open-minded and able to work with a team
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Other computer skills: AutoCAD, ArcGIS.
