The Lead Secondary Engineer is the technical guarantor of design work performance, ensuring projects stay within the committed design budget, meet deadlines, and uphold quality standards aligned with customer expectations. The role promotes ease of installation, operation, and maintenance while managing full‑set design packages for high‑value customers, influencing significant financial, technical, and commercial outcomes for the business unit.

In this position, the engineer designs and contributes to high‑voltage and HVDC substations, focusing on reliability, efficiency, and compliance with industry, protection, and regulatory standards. Collaboration with other engineers, support for project documentation, and participation in continuous‑improvement initiatives are essential.

The role requires meticulous planning and execution of discipline documents, schedules, and KPI tracking, along with rigorous design reviews, gate reviews, and mitigation planning. Effective use of design management tools, workload planning, interface sheet validation, and change‑control processes ensures seamless information exchange with partners and suppliers, while adhering to quality, GE policies, and NCR procedures.

• Prepare and align discipline provisional document list with the project schedule.
• Define achievable task durations and maintain a realistic schedule.
• Track full‑set KPI metrics on a monthly basis.
• Formalize and follow design and gate review plans.
• Integrate design components into the ROR and formalize mitigation plans with status tracking.
• Utilize design management tools and submit coherent data consistently.
• Update the discipline workload plan regularly and master design hours.
• Implement and manage a design change process.
• Deploy and validate discipline interface sheets for the project.
• Ensure no gaps in scope or information exchange with partners and main suppliers.
• Prevent serious claims from main suppliers through proactive management.
• Maintain an engineering platform, organize coordination meetings, and use the NCR system as required.
• Attach discipline documents to OM&M deliverables on time.
• Comply with quality processes, GE policies, and procedures.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience) and possess at least ten years of engineering experience in T&D, STATCOM, power generation, or oil‑&‑gas EPC projects, including five to eight years working with TAQA and/or DEWA. Proven expertise in project organization, technical problem‑solving, managing subcontracted design packages, and familiarity with transmission or distribution industries is required, together with up to 20% travel within MEA, Europe, and other regions.

• Hold a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Bring at least ten years of engineering experience in T&D, STATCOM, power generation, or oil‑&‑gas EPC environments.
• Have five to eight years of experience working with TAQA and/or DEWA.
• Travel up to 20% of the time within MEA, Europe, and other regions as needed.
• Demonstrate knowledge of project organization and engineering processes.
• Show experience in technical problem solving and managing externally subcontracted design work packages.
