The engineer will design primary substation systems up to 800 kV, including AIS/GIS configurations, transformer installations, circuit‑breaker selection, busbar arrangements and switchgear layouts. Responsibilities include producing single‑line diagrams, general arrangement layouts, equipment sizing, fault‑current analysis, earthing and lightning‑protection design, and integrating HVDC/HVAC converter stations. Additional tasks involve optimizing substation layouts, developing control and protection schemes, coordinating with civil teams for foundations and cable routing, and preparing specification documents, BOMs and procurement support.
- Design primary substation systems up to 800 kV, including AIS/GIS configurations, transformer and circuit‑breaker selection.
- Produce single‑line diagrams, general arrangement layouts, equipment sizing and routing plans.
- Conduct short‑circuit, fault‑current and busbar sizing analyses and develop protection schemes.
- Engineer earthing, grounding and lightning‑protection systems for substations.
- Integrate HVDC/HVAC converter stations and develop transformer, oil‑containment and secondary system layouts.
- Optimize substation layouts for space, accessibility and construction constraints.
- Develop control and protection coordination in line with grid‑operator requirements.
- Collaborate with civil teams on foundations, steel structures and cable routing.
- Prepare equipment specifications, bills of material and procurement support documentation.
- Create electrical interconnection, termination diagrams and cable schedules.
- Design auxiliary systems such as cooling, UPS and battery backup.
- Perform underground HV cable sizing, routing and system integration.
- Manage vendor and contractor interactions to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Participate in retirement savings plan and employee stock purchase program.
