Senior Data Protection & AI Governance In-House Lawyer

Description

• Manage data protection and privacy matters across UK and international offices.
• Draft and negotiate data processing agreements and privacy provisions in commercial contracts.
• Oversee the firm's AI governance framework, ensuring ethical AI use.
• Monitor emerging AI legislation and assess its impact on operations.
• Advise on UK GDPR, PECR, and global privacy regulations to senior stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain internal data protection policies and training programmes.
• Collaborate with various teams to ensure integrated privacy compliance.

Requirements

As part of our firm recruitment policy our candidates are subject to employment screening background checks. These checks include personal details, education and employment history, professional qualifications and credit and criminal checks as appropriate.

• At least 5 years’ post-qualification experience focusing on data protection law.
• Strong legal drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
• A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience in AI governance and emerging tech regulation is highly desirable.
• Qualified solicitor status in England & Wales or equivalent jurisdiction.
