The Associate Director – Commercial Consultancy is responsible for end‑to‑end service delivery on large and complex infrastructure commissions. The role ensures client objectives are met through the provision of a value‑added cost‑management service.
You will champion Mace’s ‘Safety First’ value, leading and maintaining exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability and compliance standards. You will apply sound technical expertise in local health and safety regulations and foster a diverse, inclusive environment that supports the wellbeing of your team.
You will manage estimating and cost planning, owning and presenting cost plans to clients. You will also oversee the procurement process from pre‑qualification through contract preparation, delivering cost‑management services that achieve strategic outcomes and key performance indicators.
You will ensure operations are fiscally and ethically viable, aligning with business and legislative compliance obligations. You will collaborate towards net‑zero carbon transition, proactively identifying and managing carbon emissions and reductions during delivery.
You will mentor, coach and develop teams, demonstrating effective leadership and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. You will network, innovate and leverage Mace Group’s knowledge centres, while managing cost consultants to improve cost‑management procedures, templates and products.

The role requires infrastructure experience, particularly in‑ground services, roads, hard stand‑ings and bridges, and familiarity with NEC Option A and C contracts. A strong background in quantity surveying or cost management is essential.
A degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent) and professional membership such as MRICS/RICS (or equivalent) progressing towards fellowship are required. Additional expertise in commercial and financial acumen, value engineering, life‑cycle costing, contract law, leadership of large diverse teams, senior stakeholder management, and carbon‑sustainability considerations is also expected.
