The Concrete Finisher Journeyman (JM) is responsible for leveling freshly poured concrete, grout, and similar materials on floors, walls, ceilings, foundations, and sidewalks. The role requires reading and interpreting measurement tools, project plans, blueprints, and plant coordinates to accurately place, vibrate, finish, repair, and install concrete and related components across a variety of applications.
Work involves up to 12‑hour shifts in changing weather, requiring physical strength to lift objects up to 50 lb, climb, crawl, and work at heights while wearing required PPE. Employees must maintain good housekeeping, adhere to OSHA and company safety regulations, and be able to operate in environments with dust, fumes, loud noise, and extreme temperatures.
Candidates must have at least four years of journeyman experience, with Master Journeymen requiring an NCCER‑approved certification. They must understand MIC Health and Safety programs, attend daily toolbox meetings, and provide personal hand tools and safety toe boots. The position demands the ability to work different shifts, overtime, and to direct or mentor small crews under the guidance of a foreman.
This full‑time role typically works 50 hours per week with up to 90% travel to project sites.
