The technician will maintain pipeline infrastructure and related assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the reliable operation of the gas transmission system. This includes overseeing maintenance activities, operating equipment, and troubleshooting system issues. The position also involves providing technical expertise for measurement and control equipment.
- Locate and mark subsurface pipeline infrastructure using paint or flags.
- Manage pipeline and utility crossings, encroachments, and complete required DOT documentation.
- Perform pipeline maintenance tasks such as leak repairs, right‑of‑way inspections, and valve tie‑ins.
- Patrol pipeline right‑of‑way and assist with leak surveys.
- Operate company trucks, compressor engines, dehydration equipment, and other facility assets.
- Execute mechanical maintenance including preventive, corrective, and major projects on compressors, pumps, boilers, valves, and gearboxes.
- Troubleshoot and maintain gas‑fired reciprocating compressors, standby generators, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps, low pressure boilers, oil coolers, air compressors, and large‑diameter valves.
- Assist in full or partial compressor overhauls, including heads, pistons, rings, liners, pins, bushings, and bearings.
- Complete work orders and update SAP with job plans, data entry, and new work order creation.
- Install, commission, test, repair, and maintain meter stations, communication systems, and related pipeline facilities.
- Service and calibrate electronic, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, including PLCs and orifice meters.
- Assemble, test, and maintain instrumentation wiring and equipment using hand and power tools.
- Conduct electrical inspections, identify hazards, and perform testing with ohmmeters, voltmeters, frequency generators, and oscilloscopes.
- Oversee installation, start‑up, and repair of measurement and regulation devices such as meters, flow computers, transmitters, relief valves, regulators, and gas quality analyzers.
- Perform accuracy tests, calibrations, and replacements of measurement equipment using Hart Communicator and Fluke meters.
- Compile and maintain written records for DOT‑auditable inspections, calibrations, odorant tests, and gas‑quality analyses.
- Maintain and reference technical documents (blueprints, schematics, manuals) as the facility technical resource.

Our USGO American Gulf – Nashville Area team is expanding its presence in Tennessee to support operation and maintenance of natural gas pipelines and related facilities. We are seeking an experienced Multiskilled Technician with knowledge of high‑pressure natural gas pipelines, reciprocating compressors, turbines, gas measurement facilities and associated equipment. The role is based at our compressor station in Hartsville, TN and requires a self‑starter comfortable working with minimal supervision.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, demonstrated industry experience, proficiency in locating and marking pipelines, and a solid understanding of stop‑work authority, LOTO procedures and Microsoft Office tools. Preferred credentials are an associate degree with electricity/electronics courses, experience with Allen Bradley or Bristol controls, and expertise in test equipment for control systems and gas measurement devices. Candidates must also possess strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision‑making skills.
The position requires a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, and successful completion of a pre‑employment medical, drug and alcohol screening. Employees must be prepared for 24/7 call‑outs, emergency response, occasional travel with overnight stays, and work in adverse weather, heavy‑lifting (up to 50 lb) and confined conditions. Driving a motor vehicle is an essential function, and motor‑vehicle records will be reviewed after a conditional offer.
