Monitor construction progress, quality, and discrepancies; coordinate with IQF to resolve issues.
Maintain flexible work hours, including day or night shifts as required by the contractor’s schedule.
Provide specialized inspections and written reports for bridge construction and OV activities.
Lead inspections of roadway and bridge construction activities for compliance with contract specifications.
Monitor the Developer's on-site construction activities and inspect materials entering into the work in accordance with the plans, specifications, and special provisions of the Developer’s Contract.
Ensure material certification requirements are met for Final Acceptance.
Attend pre-activity meetings with the Developer’s Contractor and Independent Quality Assurance Firm (IQF).
Function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Developer activities, including remediation and repair reviews.
Work in various field conditions including heights, live traffic, water proximity, and adverse weather.
Perform contract administrative duties and maintain required documentation.
Monitor and verify that the Developer’s IQF inputs all QA materials sampling and testing information into the Department’s Materials database on time.
Monitor the required sampling and testing of component materials and complete work in accordance with the Department’s and Project Quick Guide Schedule and the CQAP.
Perform oversight inspection, and verification of materials sampling and testing in accordance with the Project’s Construction Quality Assurance Program (CQAP).

Familiarity with GDOT systems like Assure-It® and e-Builder®.
Demonstrated commitment to safety practices in construction environments.
Experience with alternative delivery methods and Public-Private Partnership (P3) projects.
Experience in reading and interpreting complex construction plans and reports (BFI, pile driving, drilled shafts).
Supervisory experience in construction inspection roles.
Must have a valid US Driver’s License required to regularly drive company vehicles to project sites. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
Proficient and knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Certifications from GDOT or technical organizations such as:
Thorough knowledge of specifications and standards, acceptable construction practices, materials, methods, and equipment used in both general highway construction and specialized bridge construction.
Proficient communication skills - written and verbal.
Or, graduation from a two-year technical college with a degree in civil engineering technology or construction management and eight (8) years of progressive transportation technician experience.
High School and 10+ years of progressive roadway construction inspection experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Or, graduation from a university with a degree in civil engineering or from a four-year college with a degree in civil engineering technology or construction management and three (3) years of progressive transportation inspection experience.
