The Project Engineering Technician will support operation, deployment, and development of the xCell system and various unmanned aerial systems. The role involves hands‑on work producing mission‑essential components, maintaining equipment, and ensuring systems remain functional, mobile, and mission‑ready in forward‑operating environments.
- Deploy, set up, tear down, and ship xCell systems domestically and internationally.
- Manufacture, install, and commission equipment for new xCell builds.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate industrial additive manufacturing systems (FDM, SLS, MJF) to produce precision parts.
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on compressors, HVAC, generators, electronics, and robotic tools.
- Inspect parts for dimensional, functional, and quality compliance during production.
- Use post‑processing tools (media blasters, drill presses, hand tools) to ready parts for mission use.
- Document technical processes, system configurations, and maintenance activities.
- Support engineers and project managers in planning and executing technical projects, including payload integration for MUAS platforms.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of systems and services.
- Travel to remote and international locations to support deployments, field operations, and installations.

The position is on‑site in Rome, NY, with candidates welcomed locally or willing to relocate; relocation assistance may be offered. The work environment includes standard office and manufacturing settings, exposure to noise, heat, dust, and requires use of PPE and physical activity such as lifting up to 30 lb and frequent travel, including up to 15 % international.
- Minimum 2 years experience in additive manufacturing, equipment maintenance, or job‑shop environments.
- U.S. citizenship (or eligibility) required for ITAR compliance and DoD security clearance.
- Proven ability to maintain industrial‑grade AM hardware and production tools; proficient with hand tools and basic diagnostics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving, and communication skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to read and manage digital files, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and maintenance records.
- Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; experience in aerospace or DoD manufacturing; familiarity with nylon‑based powder AM (SLS, MJF); expeditionary manufacturing or containerized platforms; forklift certification.
- Valid driver’s license with clean record; able to lift up to 30 lb and work in austere conditions.
- Willingness to travel up to 15 % of the year, including international trips, and work overtime or weekends as needed.
- Ability to use PPE and tolerate exposure to dust, heat, vibration, loud noise, and chemicals.
