The Machine Repair Technician (MRT) role at Oshkosh AeroTech involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing PLC‑controlled conveyor and baggage systems. The position requires both mechanical and electrical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to operate various equipment to keep airport operations efficient. Technicians work in a fast‑paced environment, collaborate closely with team members, and support safety and operational excellence.
Technicians maintain PLC‑controlled baggage and conveyor systems, service and repair PLC‑driven equipment, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues. They log detailed maintenance data into the CMMS, operate forklifts, golf carts and company vehicles, respond to maintenance calls, and assist in clearing baggage jams while complying with the company’s safety program and trainings.
Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain the required security clearance. At least one year of maintenance operations experience is required, and candidates must be available to work first or second shift, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred candidates have experience with 480 V and three‑phase motors, and are skilled in mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repair. Familiarity with airport operations, an intermediate understanding of PLC control systems, and the ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics are valued. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, project‑management tools, and CMMS software is also desired.
The role regularly requires standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lb, often in outdoor airport ramp conditions and confined conveyor spaces. Employees are exposed to vehicular traffic, moving mechanical parts, loud noise, weather elements, fumes, and vibration while working at heights and in tight areas.
Certain positions require access to controlled goods subject to ITAR or the Export Administration Regulations, and applicants may need to be a U.S. Person as defined by these regulations.
