What you would be doing

Site Assessment & Testing: Perform field tests such as Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests, Cone Penetration Tests (CPTs), Standard Penetration Tests (SPTs), and hand augering to assess soil conditions.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with drillers and project managers to ensure accurate data collection and timely project execution.
Equipment Maintenance: Assist in setup, breakdown, and routine maintenance of drilling rigs, vehicles, and other field equipment.
Documentation: Keep accurate daily field logs, documenting drilling progress, equipment usage, weather, and any unusual conditions.
Sample Collection & Logging: Collect, classify, and log soil and rock samples using industry standards (e.g., USCS), noting key characteristics like color, texture, and moisture content.
Safety Compliance: Participate in job-site safety briefings and strictly adhere to all safety protocols.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or a degree in geology, environmental science, or civil engineering is a plus.
Experience: Previous experience as a geotechnical technician, driller's helper, or similar field-based role preferred.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with soil and rock classification systems (USCS or similar) is a plus.
Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
