  • Assisting Project Engineers in developing budgets for field review activities and monitoring those budgets over the course of construction
  • Bringing site and design issues to the attention of the RJC design team
  • Coordinating structural work with other disciplines on site
  • Reviewing shop drawings and assisting the design team in reviewing and responding to site inquires
  • Preparing field review reports and keeping up to date with Site Instructions (SI-s), Requests for Information (RFI-s) from the construction team.
  • Collating materials test reports and miscellaneous clerical duties related to this position
  • Working under the direction of senior staff members and the Structural Engineer of Record, you will perform field review of structural components of buildings under construction
  • Representing RJC at project site meetings with contractors, owner representatives and other consultants

  • Previous structural engineering experience an asset
  • Must be familiar with the relevant parts of CSA A23.3, CSA S16 and CSA A23.1&2 standards
  • Experience in construction and/or consulting field an asset
  • Registered or eligible to register with ASTTBC or EGBC
  • Fast learner with a keen eye for detail
  • Diploma in Building Engineering/Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent OR Civil Engineering Degree from an accredited university – courses in concrete, steel, wood design preferred.
  • Team player with ability to work independently with minimum direction
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills
  • Able to conceptualize structural and architectural details in three dimensions
  • Willingness to resolve issues on site when they arise in a collaborative way
  • Inquisitive, clear thinker who can determine what work is required and can draw rational conclusions from information available
  • Site review experience is desired
  • Must have valid BC driver’s license
