The auditor works from prints, method sheets, sketches, and verbal instructions to perform dimensional measurements using a broad array of tools such as micrometers, CMMs, comparators, and specialized equipment, as well as computer‑based inspection systems. Responsibilities include conducting Acceptance Test Procedures, bench, layout, in‑process, receiving, first‑article, and final inspections, as well as performing shop‑floor audits of both certified and non‑certified operators and inspection equipment.
Inspection results are recorded in QMS tools like WISPER, MFGPRO, and QWI logs, maintaining traceability of certifications and non‑conforming work. The auditor identifies and segregates defects, collaborates with engineers to develop or improve processes, and sets up, programs, and operates conventional and programmable CMMs, often running multiple inspection machines simultaneously in a shared cell.
Candidates must have at least one year of mechanical measurement experience, be able to read complex blueprints, and meet ITAR requirements as a U.S. person. They must reside within 50 miles of Rumford and possess a high school diploma or GED. Eaton offers health, welfare, retirement, and paid/unpaid time‑off benefits, subject to eligibility and collective bargaining agreements.
