Providing engineering, procurement, and construction services to the energy and industrial sectors.
This role offers the chance to work within a project team of engineers and designers on the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing oil and gas facility electrical systems, as well as supporting power plant and other industrial facility designs. As a Lead Electrical Engineer you will tackle challenging assignments that involve investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues. You will lead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget, while coordinating system design activities to comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
You will prepare and review detailed calculations, including three‑phase power transient studies, voltage drop, and protective relay settings, and create design input documentation for drawing production. Additional responsibilities include interfacing with vendors to develop material and equipment purchase specifications, producing clear technical reports and studies, and performing independent reviews of work performed by others. Providing mentorship to less‑experienced engineers is also a key component of the role.
The position follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring three days per week in the office. This arrangement balances onsite collaboration with remote productivity, ensuring effective team communication.
A BSEE degree from an ABET‑accredited program is required, with an MSEE preferred. Candidates must have at least 10 years of experience in power‑plant or industrial plant electrical design, focusing on integrated, detailed system design for new facilities or modifications in the oil and gas sector. Required skills include equipment selection, material specifications, control philosophy development, and analytical calculations for medium and low voltage distribution systems.
Experience serving as a firm or client liaison in a lead engineering role, as well as reviewing other engineers’ design calculations and drawings, is essential. Valued but not required qualifications include construction and start‑up experience and a professional engineering (PE) license. The company offers award‑winning benefits, comprehensive health plans, generous paid time off, flexible work arrangements, and a competitive compensation package.
The salary range for this position is $116,620 to $179,890, with eligibility for discretionary annual bonuses. Sargent & Lundy provides a transparent compensation statement that includes base salary, benefits, and performance‑based rewards.
