Director of Health and Wellness

Description

We are seeking a Director of Health and Wellness to lead our Wellness department, overseeing resident health assessments, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and coordination of medical services while promoting a safe and supportive environment.

• Conduct pre‑admission screenings, complete required documentation, and update resident assessments per policy and regulations.
• Monitor compliance with corporate and external regulatory guidelines and oversee efficient use of Wellness department resources within budget.
• Ensure team adherence to safety regulations, including fire protection, infection control, hazardous waste handling, and quality assurance.
• Supervise accurate completion of monthly billing documentation for resident services and ancillary charges.
• Review health‑related incident reports, develop corrective action plans, and report emergencies to the Executive Director.
• Provide ongoing supervision, training, counseling, motivation, and performance appraisals for Health and Wellness staff.
• Participate in regulatory inspections, identify trends, and assist in developing corrective action and resolution plans.
• Lead recruitment, selection, and onboarding of competent care team members.
• Participate in the Quality Management Program committee and conduct care‑plan conferences with residents and families.
• Partner with the sales team to discuss wellness services with prospective residents and represent the community philosophy.
• Handle resident, family, and staff concerns and complaints politely, caring, and professionally.
• Order and manage wellness supplies and durable medical equipment, ensuring proper billing.
• Coordinate in‑house ancillary medical services (e.g., podiatry, dental, labs, X‑ray, ambulance) and ensure their completion.
• Facilitate continuity of care for residents receiving home health, hospice, or third‑party health services.
• Collaborate with external healthcare practitioners, consultants, physicians, and providers to coordinate resident care.
• Provide ongoing caregiver training through classroom in‑services and situational education; oversee required LMS training.
• Perform on‑site evaluations of residents in alternate care settings and maintain communication with families to aim for community reintegration.
• Assess health, oversee medication administration, develop individualized service plans, and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Communicate condition changes to the Executive Director, physicians, and families; liaise with providers regarding status updates.
• Promote a safe work environment by evaluating resident mobility needs and involving therapy services as indicated.
• Perform rotating on‑call duties and act as manager of the day as directed by the Executive Director.

Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background screening in accordance with Florida law and company policy, which may include fingerprinting and Level 1 or Level 2 screenings.

• Maintain licensure as an RN, LPN, or LVN, hold a valid driver’s license, be CPR certified, and complete all state‑required training.
• Bring 3‑5 years of department‑head experience in assisted living or a related field and proficiency in Microsoft Office and related technologies.
• Demonstrate problem‑solving judgment, realistic goal setting, clear verbal and written communication, and strong relationship‑building skills.
• Model professionalism through punctuality, neat appearance, and the ability to work varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
