Under general supervision, the role performs a variety of complex payroll and benefits accounting duties, applying standard procedures in line with company policies.
- Prepare reports and analyses supporting payroll and benefits.
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries for accurate recordkeeping.
- Analyze and reconcile benefits‑related general ledger accounts.
- Reconcile monthly trust accounts for retirement plans and ensure vendor reporting accuracy.
- Assist in preparing retirement plan financial reports and reviewing annual tax returns.
- Maintain and examine benefit accounting records for accuracy and easy access.
- Execute special projects and additional assignments as directed by management.
- Participate in cross‑training within the payroll department.

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and preferably have 2 to 5 years of accounting experience.
The position requires occasional travel, the ability to work overtime, and physical capabilities such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds, while adhering to Granite’s Code of Conduct.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business discipline.
- Possess 2–5 years of accounting or related experience (preferred).
- Demonstrate intermediate spreadsheet skills and strong written and verbal communication.
- Exhibit analytical ability, attention to detail, self‑motivation, and teamwork while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work overtime, travel occasionally, and lift up to 10 lb as needed.
