The Renewable Energy Technician III works on‑site in Western, Nebraska, performing unsupervised field maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines, utility‑scale photovoltaic plants, and energy‑storage systems. Under direction from the site manager or designee, the role includes installation, commissioning, performance evaluation, and leading routine‑task teams. Each technician must complete a mandatory five‑week training and certification program in Albert Lea, MN, with travel and accommodation expenses covered.
Work is performed 100 % in the renewable‑asset field, with occasional office tasks such as documentation, supply ordering, and use of Microsoft software. The job requires frequent exposure to extreme weather, high voltage, moving mechanical parts, confined spaces, and moderate noise levels. Employees work eight‑hour days, 40 hours per week, with overtime and night shifts as needed, and must follow strict safety protocols including Job Safety Assessments and LOTO procedures.
Physical demands include regular use of hands, arms, and fingers, lifting up to 35 lb (frequently up to 50 lb), climbing ladders and structures over 300 ft, and working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varied weather conditions. A valid driver’s license, ability to operate field vehicles, and meeting Qualified Electrical Worker standards are required. Additionally, employees must not exceed a weight limit of 285 lb due to fall‑arrest equipment restrictions.
