As an Assistant Community Manager, you play a vital role in supporting the community’s day‑to‑day success. From leasing and resident relations to financial tasks like rent collection and renewals, you help keep everything running smoothly. Partnering closely with the Community Manager, you’ll lead by example, resolve resident concerns, and ensure both the team and community feel supported and empowered to thrive.
Key duties span leasing, financial, and leadership areas. You will conduct tours, respond to leads, guide prospects through the leasing process, and ensure lease applications and renewals are completed accurately and on time. Financial responsibilities include overseeing rent collection, payment posting, monitoring delinquencies, and assisting with ledger reviews and reporting. In the Community Manager’s absence you will step into a leadership role, maintain team momentum, support a positive work environment, and de‑escalate resident issues with professionalism and empathy.
Education requirements include a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Preferred experience is two years in property management and at least six months as an assistant community manager. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, and a Certified Apartment Leasing Professional (CALP) accreditation is a plus.
Success in this role is driven by a positive attitude, solid financial understanding, strong conflict‑resolution skills, and a customer‑focused mindset that embraces our Live It culture of kindness, community, and connection. Problem‑solving ability to identify challenges and deliver efficient solutions is also essential.
Our leasing office operates Monday‑Friday 9:00 AM–6:00 PM and Saturdays 10:00 AM–4:00 PM, with one weekday off each week to maintain a 40‑hour schedule. Evening and weekend availability may be required for resident events or community needs.
Assistant Community Managers receive hourly compensation plus monthly leasing and renewal commissions and quarterly performance bonuses. We offer a Career Path Program to help you grow toward a Community Manager role, along with comprehensive benefits such as free dental, medical and vision plans, health‑wellness incentives, 401(k) match, paid time off (including your birthday), paid sick leave, pet insurance, paid parental leave, 24/7/365 telehealth access, and company‑paid life insurance. Hawthorne is an equal‑opportunity employer.
