E2 Consulting Engineers provides engineering solutions for infrastructure, energy, and water projects.
The selected candidate will design deliverables for substation projects supporting one of E2's largest electric utility clients in Southern California. Design responsibilities cover protection and control deliverables such as one‑line and three‑line diagrams, AC/DC elementary and logic diagrams, panel elevations, wiring, supervisory and control drawings, vendor equipment wiring schematics, cable schedules, and bills of material, as well as physical design items like general arrangement drawings, equipment plans and elevations, conduit and grounding layouts, relay house configurations, and associated bill of materials. This role reports directly to the Substation Department Manager.
In this position the employee will assist in developing both protection & control and physical substation designs, perform thorough self‑checks to ensure quality, create detailed computer‑assisted design and construction drawings, and conduct engineering calculations for loads, conduit, bus sizing, lighting, lightning protection, and grounding grids. The role also requires ensuring compliance with client and industry standards, coordinating with project managers and clients, tracking design activities in the company information system, attending site meetings to gather scope, and providing field support during construction when needed.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑approved institution and have 1‑3 years of experience in substation design or a similar utility or consulting engineering environment. Required skills include proficiency with Microsoft Office, basic analytical and problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail, experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and effective written and verbal communication. Preferred qualifications are an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification and familiarity with California electric utility substation design and construction standards.

E2 is a drug‑free workplace and, as a federal contractor, requires background checks, drug testing, and may restrict medical marijuana use in certain positions.
