As a member of the Engineering team, the Lean Manager will optimize manufacturing processes to meet customer expectations for quality, reliability, and performance. The role involves coordinating with factory and corporate staff to apply Lean Manufacturing principles throughout product development and production.
Key responsibilities include promoting a Lean culture, performing time studies and balance charts, and mapping current and future state value streams to eliminate waste and reduce variation. The manager will analyze space constraints and material flow using tools such as Spaghetti Diagrams and develop standardized work procedures. Overseeing the implementation of Lean initiatives, the role drives operational excellence through structured problem solving and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate thrives in team environments, can manage multiple projects, and is proficient in data analysis, change management, and KPI development. Expertise with Lean tools—including Value Stream Mapping, Mixed Model VS, Yamazumi charts, Standardized Work, Spaghetti Diagrams, 5S, and PFEP—is required, along with knowledge of large‑equipment manufacturing and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor of Science degree, at least ten years of manufacturing experience, and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Desirable qualifications include a Black Belt, experience with sheet‑metal, piping, and mechanical/electrical assembly, and a background in low‑volume, high‑mix or mixed‑model production environments.
Physical demands involve frequent standing, walking, climbing, and the ability to lift or move up to 40 lb.
