The Finance area within Uisce Eireann ensures effective financial management of the organisation and provides the expertise, services, and information to support the business in achieving its required business outcomes, including supporting the financial and information requirements of Uisce Eireann. The Corporate Finance Team develop the Finance and Management Accounting areas of Uisce Eireann and deliver high-quality management, statutory and regulatory financial information and ensure that the highest level of assurance and service on the organisation’s finances is provided to senior and operational management, to shareholders, financial agencies, regulatory authorities and the public. They are also responsible for developing Uisce Eireann’s financial and management control function to meet current and future business requirements.
Reporting into the Tax Manager, the Tax Operational Lead is responsible for supporting tax compliance, process improvements and the tax centre of excellence. The Tax Operational Lead will also have responsibility for promoting increased awareness of taxation risks and opportunities.
The Financial Control and Planning Function is responsible for the high-quality management of statutory and regulatory financial information and ensuring that the highest level of assurance and service on the organisation’s finances is provided to senior and operational management, shareholders, financial agencies, regulatory authorities, and the public. The function oversees the management of UÉ’s liquidity, investments, funding, cash management, reporting activities and financial risks and is responsible for developing and maintaining best in class treasury processes, procedures, and control environment. Additionally, the teams drive the corporate planning, budgeting and forecasting, and all related activities for Uisce Éireann and are accountable for the development, refinement and analysis of short and long-term forecasting models across the organization as well as tax compliance, strategy and planning.
- Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
- Provide appropriate support / advisory / training to the business on tax-related matters, including ensuring that operational compliance is not compromised by contractual changes researching and resolving technical queries from the business, carrying out periodic reviews, and advising of any updates in new tax legislation.
- Act as point of escalation for queries. Skilfully and proactively address conflict within own team and in cross-functional projects.
- Promote an increased awareness of taxation risks, threats and opportunities across Uisce Éireann.
- Drive the development and implementation of best practice taxation processes and systems which support the delivery of operational tax compliance.
- Ensure the delivery of relevant returns and ensure that the related Revenue deadlines and requirements are achieved in an efficient and effective manner in accordance with tax legislation/guidance.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the tax team by continually looking at the drivers of activity in your area. Work with key stakeholders to proactively address queries and ongoing issues.
- Engage with external tax authorities and consultants locally and regionally.
- Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives
- Ensure the delivery of all system changes required to drive tax compliance, act as the point of contact with IT to ensure that tax is considered as part of ongoing system developments.
- Manage business stakeholders, participate in relevant meetings and develop strong working relationships with Tax customers.
- Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
- Assist the Tax Manager to ensure that the tax team is the centre of excellence for technical taxation matters.
- Provide tax audit support in operational taxes.
- Implement a robust, structured tax process within your area with appropriate financial controls to ensure tax compliance with applicable laws.
- Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
- Proactively identifying new areas of improvement and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job.
- Identify key taxation issues and work with the Tax Manager & Tax Leads to ensure appropriate actions are taken or controls are in place to minimise taxation exposures / risks and maximise returns.
- Ensure that tax reviews of transactional processes are completed effectively and work with key stakeholders to address issues.
