Key responsibilities include overseeing daily field operations, managing schedules, coordinating subcontractors, ensuring compliance with design specifications, and maintaining open communication with the project team. The superintendent also leads weekly meetings, handles RFIs, fosters positive subcontractor relations, oversees punch‑list execution, and manages project close‑out and warranty processes.
- Oversee daily field operations, ensuring safety, quality, progress, housekeeping, and daily logs.
- Lead and supervise site staff, including assistant superintendents, laborers, and trade personnel.
- Prepare weekly two‑week look‑ahead schedules and coordinate subcontractors to meet project timelines without extra costs.
- Ensure job site compliance with design specifications, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
- Communicate changes, job conditions, and subcontractor relations with the project team.
- Collaborate with project management to maintain up‑to‑date project schedules.
- Conduct weekly project and subcontractor meetings.
- Manage RFIs: create, propose solutions, and track to closeout.
- Foster positive subcontractor relationships and promote fair treatment.
- Oversee punch‑list process to ensure timely completion.
- Manage close‑out and warranty responses with the project manager.

The Superintendent role is focused on delivering projects on time, on budget, and beyond client expectations. This position provides the necessary support and resources for superintendents to achieve the highest standards, directly supervising the field labor force, subcontractors, and craft workers. Strong leadership, organizational, time‑management, and client‑service skills, as well as a deep understanding of trades in commercial interior construction and high‑end renovations, are essential.
- Understand project strategy, financial goals, logistics, milestones, and inspections.
- Minimum five years experience as a Superintendent in interior, high‑end commercial general contracting.
- Proven record managing complex projects in occupied spaces.
- Ability to handle multiple quick‑turnaround projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in reading commercial construction plans and specifications.
- Hold a 10‑Hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health Certificate.
- Hold a 4‑Hour Supported Scaffold User Certificate.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and preferably Procore.
Benefits
The salary range for this role in California is $90,000 to $180,000, with compensation varying based on location, experience, and other factors.
