  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with design development, including technical, schedule, and cost risks.

  • Oversee the use of design tools and methodologies, including Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other digital platforms.
  • Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback to ensure high levels of productivity and engagement.
  • Manage and coordinate the design development process across multiple disciplines, which includes stations, depots, rail systems and infrastructure, underground structures and other transport solutions (Bus, RTS, mobility).
  • Facilitate design coordination meetings and workshops to resolve technical issues and ensure effective communication among teams.
  • Manage stakeholder inputs and feedback, incorporating them into the design process while maintaining project integrity.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders, highlighting design progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including rail and transport industry best practices.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in rail systems and station design.
  • Ensure that design deliverables are integrated, aligned, and meet project requirements, schedules, and budgets.

  • Highly motivated individual with strong organizational, leadership and project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure delivery processes, including design, procurement, and construction.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and delivering complex infrastructure projects.
  • Must be able to review and understand project documents for technical accuracy and quality to ensure adherence to project plan.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards pertinent to the discipline and project location.
  • Understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including basic construction practices and the economics involved.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs, with the ability to prioritize workloads and meet tight deadlines.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, AgilePM, or equivalent certifications are desirable but not mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of rail systems, transport infrastructure or station design principles.
  • Proven track record of coordinating and delivering large scale projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems and design calculations.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in design management for infrastructure and / or transport projects, with a focus on rail sector.
  • Higher National Diploma in a relevant field is also acceptable.
  • Proactive and delivery-focused, with a strong ability to align stakeholders around a common vision.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in design and project management tools (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM, Primavera P6).
  • Skilled in managing teams and delivering results in a collaborative, cross-departmental environment.
  • Knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design including appropriate knowledge of CAD (both 2-D and 3-D) e.g., AutoCAD, MS Word and Excel for managing design reviews
  • A professional license from a recognized licensing or registration board.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, effectively controlling scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to mentor and coach team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken, with excellent technical writing skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
