Janitor (FT/PT)

Description

The General Cleaner is responsible for maintaining common areas of office buildings, apartment houses, or other commercial or institutional buildings in a clean and orderly condition. The role involves a variety‑of cleaning and maintenance tasks as outlined below.

• Spot clean lobby glass doors
• Inspect building exterior and pick up trash
• Clean ashtrays and sand urns on every floor
• Empty and clean exterior trash receptacles
• Check restrooms twice daily
• Sweep stairwells and landings as needed
• Remove debris from landscaped areas as needed
• Sweep building entrances
• Remove smudges and marks from walls, doors, and wall covering
• Report any out‑of‑order lights (exit, directory boards, etc.) to management
• Report solicitors to management
• Police lobby to keep floors and planters free of paper and debris during high‑traffic times
• Empty all trash receptacles
• Assist building engineer daily as directed by management
• Follow instructions, take responsibility, and complete tasks on time
• Observe safety and security procedures and report unsafe conditions
• Use equipment and materials properly

Requirements

The position may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, outdoor weather, and electrical hazards, with a moderate noise level. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

• Polish chrome on lobby doors
• Vacuum lobby once daily or as needed
• Dust‑mop lobby floors twice daily
• Polish elevator cab railings, doors and main lobby call buttons
• Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality
