This hands‑on engineering role will involve architecting, designing, and owning end‑to‑end automation frameworks for acceptance and integration testing across UI, API, and system‑level validations. You will select tools, define best practices, and integrate test suites into our CI/CD pipeline to ensure every release is stable, accurate, and production‑ready. Your work will directly influence how testing is engineered into our workflow and become the key enabler of release quality.
- Design, build, and own an automated testing framework covering UI, API, and backend layers.
- Select and integrate modern test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress) into CI/CD pipelines.
- Translate product test plans into maintainable automation scripts to boost release reliability.
- Define scalable testing architecture, infrastructure, and documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to embed quality early in development.
- Analyse test results, identify root causes, and drive resolution of quality issues.
- Create quality metrics and dashboards to communicate release readiness and product health.
- Balance automation with targeted manual testing and design processes for human validation.
- Organise “Test Parties” to promote collective quality ownership.
- Establish and scale the QA automation function, setting tools, processes, and standards.
- Evolve QA practices to reduce bugs, prevent regressions, and validate complex SaaS calculations.
- Serve as a trusted quality advisor aligning testing strategies with business outcomes.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Lead to establish and lead Neara’s Quality Assurance Automation practice.
- Drive measurable increase in release confidence and reduction in manual testing overhead.
- Proficient in Python or JavaScript with clean, maintainable code.
- Hands‑on experience with Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Experience in API test automation using Postman, Insomnia, or custom scripts.
- Familiarity with CI/CD environments such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- Leadership or mentoring experience in QA automation (plus).
- Experience with performance or security testing (nice‑to‑have).
- Knowledge of Dart or other modern languages (nice‑to‑have).
- Ability to build reports or visualise test metrics in dashboards (nice‑to‑have).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5+ years in software development or test automation.
