As a Principal Engineer you will help establish, manage, and expand a new branch office, recruit and lead a technical staff, and develop strategies to attract new clients while supporting design projects from inception to completion. You will lead water and wastewater engineering projects, prepare detailed reports and drawings, mentor junior engineers, and act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders. Participation in internal and external technical organizations is also expected.

- Recruit, build, and manage a technical staff team to support office operations and project execution.
- Develop and implement client recruitment strategies, leveraging relationships and expanding business opportunities for design projects from inception to completion.
- Lead project management for water and wastewater engineering projects, including sewer comprehensive plans, engineering reports, and design of treatment, collection, distribution systems, water modeling, and pump stations.
- Support and mentor junior engineers and design/drafting staff.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Serve as primary contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and problem solving.
- Participate in internal and external technical organizations.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering and a PE license in Pennsylvania, with additional state licenses preferred. You bring at least 15 years of design experience in water or wastewater systems, proven project‑management and client‑relationship skills, and the ability to oversee complex treatment, pump, and sewer projects. A strong desire to contribute to the growth of the Pittsburgh metro office and the firm’s long‑term success is essential.
- BS degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering.
- PE license registration in Pennsylvania (additional state licenses desired).
- 15+ years of engineering design experience focusing on water and/or wastewater systems.
- Proven experience managing engineering projects and project managers while developing client relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee wastewater treatment systems, pump stations, water systems, sewer collection systems, funding, permitting, and planning reports.
