Works aloft; climbs ladders and poles; enters tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, and other confined spaces to accomplish job tasks.

Proper installation of various closures on copper cables.
Tests and adjusts complex equipment using testing devices, e.g., signal generators, oscilloscopes, transmission measuring sets, volt-ohm-millimeters, etc
Determine air flow and pressure in cables – aerial and underground. Preparing cables for pressurization and maintaining cable pressure.
Making necessary preparations required for splicing, rearranging, and terminating cable conductors. Performing splicing operations relating to the installation, rearrangement, and repair of outside plant facilities. This includes copper cable, wire, terminals, loop carrier electronics.
Locating and clearing troubles in outside plant facilities.

Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 25 lbs continuously.
Fine motor skills and visual acuity is required for success.
Understand staking sheets and blueprints.
Four years of experience in the installation and/or repair of fiber-optic cable and other related telecommunications equipment.
Awareness of all Safety regulations for Line Companies; knowledge of all Utility, N.E.S.C., DOT and OSHA Safety Rules.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Will need to be able to travel both within and out of state as required or as work ebbs and flows.
Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity. Drive and operate a vehicle, and/or bucket.
At least two years of experience in splicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing fiber optic and copper cable.
Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and fax machines regularly during the course of work.
Industry-recognized certification in splicing and testing copper and fiber optic cable.
High School Degree
Ability to distinguish the difference between colors.
May need to respond under stressful or urgent situations.
