The Business Development Manager works closely with the Regional Director to generate new business across Georgia and the Carolinas, overseeing a team of Business Development Representatives. They cultivate relationships with architects, owners, engineers, and other stakeholders, and support younger employees’ growth. The role also involves strategic target setting, market analysis, and participation in proposals, pitches, and the Go‑no‑Go process.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across Georgia and the Carolinas.
- Manage a team of Business Development Representatives in the region.
- Mentor and develop junior staff members.
- Set individual targets and goals with the team.
- Maintain relationships with architects, owners, engineers, and other external partners.
- Build rapport with prospects to craft effective marketing strategies.
- Preserve existing revenue by servicing client relationships.
- Support marketing by researching and preparing client presentations.
- Participate in Go‑no‑Go decisions to allocate resources.
- Contribute to proposals, pitches, and presentations.
- Provide input for firm‑wide business development strategy.
- Stay informed on market conditions, trends, and real‑estate activity.
- Promote the company through industry affiliations, PR events, and community involvement.
- Evaluate marketing effectiveness and gather prospect feedback.
- Keep the CRM database current and accurate.
- Liaise with personnel at all levels within Ajax.

The ideal candidate brings at least ten years of business development and client management experience, particularly in commercial construction, architecture, or engineering within South Carolina. They possess a proven record of closing deals, managing staff, and understanding the construction process from estimating to profitability. Strong initiative, analytical thinking, and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
- Possess at least 10 years of business development and client management experience.
- Have a background in commercial construction, architecture, or engineering with strong SC connections.
- Demonstrated success in closing deals and expanding business.
- Understand construction processes, including estimating, budgeting, and value engineering.
- Be deal‑oriented, confident, analytical, creative, and a team player.
- Have 3–5 years of staff‑management experience.
