Construction Inspector

Description

• Attend progress meetings when requested.
• Report non-compliance and assist in resolution with the Resident Engineer and/or Senior Inspector.
• Verify work zone traffic control setups.
• Monitor contractor’s work to ensure compliance with NYSDOT contract documents, specifications, and safety standards.
• Observe and record testing of materials (concrete, soils, asphalt, etc.).
• Complete project documentation using the APPIA construction management software system.
• Maintain daily inspection reports (DIRs) and document activities in APPIA or equivalent systems.
• Take site photographs to document progress and issues.
• Perform quantity calculations and assist in processing pay estimates.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of field construction inspection experience or experience working in the construction field.
• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum); Associate’s degree in construction or civil engineering technology is preferred.
• OSHA 10-hour certification.
• NICET Level II in Transportation/Highway Construction.
