Position Summary Assists and supports the Accounting Department by performing routine accounting, bookkeeping and clerical duties.
Creates general ledger entriesDeposits checksVerifies amounts and codes on various forms for accuracySorts documents and posts debits/credits to proper accounts; balances entries and makes necessary correctionsReconciles bank statementsProcesses check requests, invoices and expense reports; ensures all appropriate approvals have been received prior to paymentAssists with resolving invoice discrepanciesPerforms data entryCompiles routine numerical information for reports; prepares and reconciles reportsResponds to routine questions from internal staff and external vendorSets up and maintains filesPerforms other administrative and clerical duties as needed such as photocopying, assembling paperwork, scanning, and faxing

High school diploma; Associate’s Degree preferredA minimum of 1 year accounting experience requiredFamiliarity with general accounting and accounts payable proceduresStrong analytical skills; detail-orientedAbility to perform with a high level of discretion and integrityGood organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlinesGood interpersonal and written and verbal communication skillsComputer proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and familiarity with accounting software
