The Field Engineer evaluates, designs, and estimates natural gas distribution facilities, including main lines, service lines, and measurement and regulation equipment. This role supports new business, system improvements, and maintenance projects while adhering to company standards, applicable codes, and guidelines. The position is based in Columbus, OH, and candidates must reside within a 50‑mile radius.
Key responsibilities include preparing permit applications and easement requests, developing budget estimates, reporting project variances, and providing technical assistance to construction and field operations staff. The engineer collaborates with stakeholders on projects of varying scope, acts as a liaison to governmental officials, and supports emergency response and winter‑readiness activities to ensure safe and reliable energy delivery.
Qualifications range from an Associate Field Engineer with a bachelor’s degree and up to 12 months of experience, to a Senior Field Engineer requiring a bachelor’s degree and eight or more years of relevant experience. All levels require an ABET‑accredited engineering or engineering technology degree, knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency with Word, Excel, and AutoCAD, and a valid driver’s license. Preferred credentials include a master’s degree and EIT certification.
The salary range for this role is $69,900 to $170,300, depending on skills, experience, and internal equity. The posting is open from January 8 to January 22, 2026.
