Under direct supervision, the Yard Associate performs a variety of yard activities, handling products and materials such as windows, doors, trim, and lumber while delivering customer service.
Key duties include assisting customers with locating and loading products, reviewing loaded materials against invoices or requisitions, moving and stocking items throughout the yard, maintaining inventory levels, performing routine yard cleanup, and following safety procedures while attending meetings and suggesting improvements.
Minimum requirements are a high school diploma or GED with six months of relevant experience—or an equivalent combination of education and training—and an OSHA Forklift Certification.
Core competencies include operating motorized and non‑motorized material‑handling equipment, knowledge of safety procedures, strong customer service skills, familiarity with company products and inventory, the ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions, and the capability to read and understand invoices and requisitions.
The work environment is primarily an outdoor yard subject to temperature variations, weather, equipment noise, and dust. Employees must frequently lift up to 25 lb and occasionally up to 80 lb, and be able to operate forklift equipment safely.
