The Civil Project Engineer II will coordinate and manage engineering projects, overseeing planning, design, and implementation for infrastructure such as airports, bridges, buildings, dams, pipelines, power plants, railroads, and water supply systems. The role also includes team coordination, monitoring scope, schedule, and budget, invoicing, proposal preparation, staff planning, interdisciplinary coordination, and client interaction.

- Oversees development of detailed construction plans for roadway, utility, electrical, and transportation projects using Bentley and/or AutoDesk software.
- Coordinates design changes and revisions based on internal and external feedback.
- Communicates regularly with internal design staff and project lead to coordinate progress and adhere to deadlines; may act as discipline or project lead and communicate progress to client.
- Independently manages time and schedule to achieve multiple project milestones.
- Organizes and maintains project files and leads documentation of correspondence and meeting minutes.
- Evaluates and applies applicable current engineering standards and federal or local requirements to assigned projects.
- Leads coordination and documentation of quality control reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manages tasks and/or projects of moderate to advanced complexity.
- Acts as main point of contact with client or project lead on projects led by other disciplines.
- Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects such as product design, specifications preparation, and product testing in accordance with engineering disciplines.

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering and typically have 10+ years of experience. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required. The position reports to the Project Engineer – Team Lead and requires advanced verbal, written, and technological communication skills, along with advanced engineering and spatial design abilities. Experience with Bentley Suite products (MicroStation, ProjectWise, AutoCAD) and knowledge of IDOT and Illinois Tollway standards are preferred.
Physical demands include the ability to sit, walk, stand, reach, stoop, kneel, climb, balance, talk, hear, and use hands for tools, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. The work environment is primarily a general office setting with normal business hours, though occasional outdoor work may be required throughout the year.
Employees must complete state-required competency training and attend job-related seminars and workshops. The salary range for the position is $115,440 to $124,800 per year, and reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
