Senior Legal Counsel

Description

Your role as Senior Legal Counsel will be to manage legal functions within the Real Estate division, particularly in relation to off-the-plan sales and development. This will involve working closely with the Development and Sales Teams to deliver on the company’s vision. The role requires a highly organised and commercially astute professional with experience managing complex off-the-plan contracts and engaging confidently with high-net-worth and sophisticated stakeholders that underpin the company’s property development and wellness business units.

• Providing corporate legal support across the Real Estate Group
• Overseeing project completions, working closely with the development team, external legal advisors, and stakeholders
• Overseeing contract management, ensuring all agreements are compliant and executed on time
• Advising on tenders and acquisitions, including collaborating with external lawyers and the development team to ensure all legal aspects are covered, risk is mitigated, and compliance is achieved
• Drafting and reviewing project launch materials, such as off-the-plan contracts of sale, agency appointments, and marketing materials for legal compliance
• Providing legal advice on a wide range of matters in a fast-paced high-performance environment, including complex project structures, risk management, and regulatory requirements
• Managing stakeholder relationships, including joint venture partners, external lawyers, financiers, builders, and sales teams, ensuring legal and operational alignment across all parties
• Overseeing contract administration to manage rapid conversion of conditional off the plan contracts to unconditional contracts for construction funding
• Offering strategic and insightful advice on ancillary legal documentation and other project-related legal matters as required
• Working closely with the Legal Counsel, Real Estate, and providing mentoring and coaching where required.
• Together with external counsel, drafting, reviewing, and managing leases and licenses for real estate properties

Requirements

• Professional, mature, and confident in dealing with high-net-worth individuals
• A proven team player who is willing to assist in a range of different areas
• Relevant Tertiary qualification with Current Australian practising certificate or entitlement to hold an Australian practising certificate
• The ability to build strong and sustainable relationships within the organisation and with a variety of stakeholders
• Minimum 7 years’ post-qualification experience, with proven expertise in real estate and property law (off-the-plan experience highly desired)
• Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proven track record of successful contract management, including preparation and negotiating amendments
• Demonstrates a high-level professional judgement in complex and sensitive matters
• The ability to work to tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
• Highly developed written communications skills
