What you would be doing

  • Analyze markets and perform supplier screening and qualification
  • Negotiate, close and manage long-term master supply agreements in line with the sourcing strategy
  • Work with Sales/Planning to review demand trends
  • Develop a sourcing strategy to optimize the cost/quality of the products, meet the demand and meet all necessary requirements
  • Establish and maintain executive level relationship with key stakeholders of the value chain in India including steel mills, steel manufacturers etc.
  • Assess supplier performance on a quarterly basis,
  • Prepare and manage Requests for Quotation (RFQs)

  • Experience with India manufacturers in particular flat steel mills, tubing and stamping companies, service centers.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial contracts in India steel sector
  • Results orientated and demonstrated ability to think out of the box to drive results
  • Ability to report and present a strategy at executive level
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent experience with minimum 10+ years of experience in sourcing in Indian steel industry.
  • Understand technical and economic requirements of the products as well as specific project needs
  • Fluent oral and written communications at least in English
  • Solid structuring and analytical skills to keep track of multiple projects and vendors, in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Consistent interactive teamwork
  • Enthusiastic customer focus
  • Availability of traveling on a regular basis.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and respond quickly and flexibly
  • Advanced communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Advanced Negotiation skills.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills as a significant part of the team and suppliers are remote
