The role involves operating and maintaining a gas‑fueled power plant that includes multiple spark‑ignition reciprocating engines and all related auxiliary equipment. Responsibilities include complying with workplace, federal, state, and OSHA safety standards, conducting regular inspections, and performing preventive maintenance on both fixed plant and gas processing equipment. The incumbent will also handle fault‑finding, repairs, and reporting for mechanical and electrical systems, operate advanced instrumentation and process control systems, and be available for on‑call duties within 45 minutes of the station while performing routine housekeeping tasks.
Candidates must possess a clean driver’s license and be able to work weekends, holidays, and on‑call shifts. Required experience includes maintenance, mechanical, or electrical backgrounds, with specific familiarity in gas or diesel reciprocating engines, Caterpillar engines, and landfill gas (LFG) power generation and extraction systems. Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Word and Excel), data collection, reporting, and clear communication—both verbal and written—is essential. Additional qualifications include analytical troubleshooting skills, the ability to perform minor repairs and overhauls, and competence with instrumentation, metering, and monitoring equipment, as well as basic electrical and mechanical maintenance capabilities.
The position demands physical abilities such as reading, writing, hearing, and communicating effectively, as well as adequate vision to perform duties safely. Workers must be capable of standing, sitting, bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, stooping, and walking for extended periods, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted. Occasional travel by automobile or airline for extended periods may also be required.
