  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with federal, state, and local authorities (e.g., OSHA, EPA, fire department, etc.) on behalf of the site.
  • Manage site EHS KPIs and reporting metrics with leading and lagging indicators to proactively address risk factors and drive operational accountability throughout the site.
  • Oversee EHS review and approval of contractors for the facility, as well as ensure safe working practices of contractors while on site.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to promote a safety-first EHS culture throughout the facility. Engage with executive leadership, managers, and frontline employees to cultivate a shared commitment to safety excellence and continuous improvement, integrating safety-first planning across all phases of work.
  • Drive robust incident reporting mechanisms, lead team in conducting thorough incident investigations, and identify causal factors and corrective actions to prevent recurrence at the site.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to managers and all facility-level staff regarding EHS compliance. Lead the site in maintaining compliance with all operational permitting and required monitoring activities.
  • Coordinate and support site safety teams to foster employee engagement and accountability for safe working practices at the site.
  • Lead and inspire action in dynamic and rapidly changing business conditions; drive proactive change through effective communication and leadership.
  • Execute the Manufacturing Division's overall EHS strategy in line with the overall Associated Materials EHS Vision and Strategy and align site safety objectives with business goals to enhance operational effectiveness at the site.
  • Maintain timely and accurate EHS data reporting on behalf of the site, and train site operational partners to utilize EHS data management systems. Proactively analyze data trends to identify root causes and target improvements at the site.
  • Manage and maintain site environmental permits (e.g., air, stormwater, wastewater, hazardous waste) and coordinate data collection, reporting preparation, and submittal for required regulatory agency reporting.
  • Lead cultural change to embrace new and improved EHS programs and policies within the site.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of EHS programs and activities for the facility to achieve, maintain, and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations as well as comply with AMI's policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement proactive measures to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational hazards through in-depth use of data analytics and reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and update the site-specific Emergency Action Plan (EAP), train site employees, managers, and emergency response teams, and coordinate and conduct periodic emergency drills at the site.
  • Systematically lead the site team in the assessment of EHS risks and implementation of risk mitigation measures to drive continuous EHS improvement at the site.
  • Lead team in EHS review of all operational and equipment changes prior to implementation.
  • Coordinate site-level sustainability programs (e.g., waste, energy, water reduction) and support implementation of corporate ESG initiatives at the site level.
  • Implement risk control measures, safety protocols, and engineering controls to minimize employee exposure to hazards. Coordinate and assist in the execution of capital EHS projects to ensure compliance with requirements and completion on a timely basis.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Safety, or other technically related field.
  • Demonstrated success with influencing without operational control.
  • Proven track record of delivering on commitments and completing projects on time, within budget, and of high quality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, and outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough technical knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and NFPA regulations and reporting requirements, as well as safety industry best practices.
  • Lean Six Sigma training/qualification preferred (green belt/black belt).
  • Strategic thinker with creative and excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Professional certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), preferred.
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Excellent data and analytical skills, and technical experience with EHS data management systems.
  • Resilient self-starter who can operate autonomously and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment.
