Civil Engineer - Water

Description

• Support senior staff in preparation of project cost estimates and participate in value engineering exercises.
• Perform field work as required such as project site visits and meetings, construction project visits, and field reviews.
• Assist in the review of contractor shop drawings and submittals, respond to requests for information, site observation reports, and perform other construction administration tasks.
• Coordinate and keep consistent communication with other project team disciplines to ensure the entire design team has the same design intent.
• Attend and participate in meetings with clients, municipal officials, and contractors to review project needs.
• Take sufficient notes at meetings to document discussions and organize followup action items.
• Utilizes technologies in development of threedimensional models of civil systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers.
• Supports project team in development of engineering studies, design documentation, plans, and technical reports for relevant project design elements.
• Attend and participate in project meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
• Assists senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, quality, budget, staffing, and schedule.
• Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
• Serve as a member of the technical design team on site civil projects requiring geometric site layout, profiles, stormwater management, drainage, grading, water and sanitary sewer utilities, and erosion and sedimentation control.
• Perform selfcheck and peer quality reviews for documents in various project phases including construction plans, reviewing submittal packages, and engineering calculation reports.

Requirements

• Selfmotivated individual, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Field work and associated travel may be required on a projectspecific basis, including overnight stays out of town. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Technical knowledge in site grading and drainage, water, and sewer projects is a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS Mapping is a plus and willingness to learn relevant software such as WaterCAD, SewerCAD, StormCAD, Navisworks, etc.
• EngineerinTraining certification.
• Candidate must have strong technical writing abilities.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving, and decisionmaking skills.
• Able to pass preemployment and projectspecific drug screenings as required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in civil engineering.
• Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
• Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
