Setting Out Manager

Description

Support divisional performance to continuously enhance our service to our clients and support efficiency improvement to maintain competitiveness and increase business activity. Support the functional head in planning out activities, prioritizing deliveries in line with the strategic plan, and overseeing day to day management and planning of setting out resources and processes to attend to commitments to achieve continuous improvement in process efficiency. Client communication, as well as internal communications with other concerned functional areas also with the intention to collaborate, coordinate information and needs of running projects.

The person will be responsible for coordinating and managing External and Internal Clients and Setting out team to ensure the smooth flow of the project manufacturing process and ultimately, client satisfaction balanced with quality and cost performance.

• Manage and oversee the effective management of assigned projects
• Identification of RFI’s and managing the process with clients
• Review project details and guide and steer the setting out team processes of material submissions, procurement, shop drawings development, prototyping, manufacturing delivery
• Overseeing the sourcing of hardware accessories and optimizing where possible
• Overseeing the timely project drawings approval process
• Providing guidance and managing the issuance to factory of cutting lists, loading lines
• To oversee and manage material procurement and planning so that all materials arrive before production is commenced
• Review and management of the Shop drawings preparation and submittal process
• Preparation of Projects Status report
• Reviewing, overseeing the Project program and schedules, and managing client expectations
• Interpreting contractual works requirements and obligations
• Overseeing follow up of project-related procurement
• Forward planning schedules and forecasts for cutting lists issuance to manufacturing
• Lead and manage coordination with the production departments. Checking materials allowed details and oversee clearance for variations internally and with clients
• Review specifications of the project and obtain clearance for discrepancies between specs and estimated details. Overseeing identification of project material requirements
• Coordination with site team and setting out for getting timely site surveys or arranging alternative options for issuing the job if site surveys not possible such as over-sizing and following an agreed setting out plan (usually the case on fast-track projects)

Requirements

• Minimum of ten years similar experience in a manufacturing setup
• Familiar with FSC, Leed requirements, FR standards etc.
• The candidate should have experience in managing a team of 15 to 20 members
• Good organizational skills, dynamic personality to manage a fast-moving environment
• Team player, good team mentor and organizational skills
• Very strong technical and execution capabilities with the ability to solve/provide guidance on technical issues, details, and materials integration such as glass, acrylics, stone, metals, fabrics etc.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a multinational environment
• Sound knowledge of manufacturing procedures and common joinery materials including timber, boards, veneers, laminates, and hardware are vital
• Well versed in Autodesk Products and Microsoft Office applications
• Track record and experience in all aspects of joinery setting out from site survey, preparing manufacturing shop drawings, and cutting lists, through to material take off and ordering, preparation of site working drawings and loading lines
