The Maintenance Lead Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager and leads a team of technicians to ensure all equipment repairs and maintenance meet the company’s safety standards and applicable federal and state regulations. This role oversees chassis (diesel and non‑diesel) and refuse bodywork, including hydraulic, electrical, heating, and air‑conditioning systems.
Key responsibilities include performing complex repairs on chassis components, refuse bodies, air and hydraulic brakes, engines, suspension, drivetrain, steering, and HVAC systems, as well as line‑maintenance welding and fabrication. The Lead Technician diagnoses advanced issues, mentors technicians on diagnostic techniques, inspects third‑party repairs for compliance, and schedules work to minimize shop downtime. Additional duties involve completing required training, acting as a mentor, and stepping into Maintenance Supervisor duties when needed.
Candidates must have at least three years of heavy‑duty truck technician experience and be capable of working independently on systems such as suspensions, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions. Supervisory or lead‑technician experience, ASE Heavy‑Truck certifications, and a Class B CDL are preferred but not required. Familiarity with OSHA HazCom, Lockout‑Tagout, and fire‑protection regulations is advantageous.
The position offers a $5,000 sign‑on bonus, competitive compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and retirement savings options. Employees also have access to health and dependent care spending accounts, an Employee Assistance Program, discount programs, a stock purchase plan, and paid time off.
