Senior Manager, Internal Audit

Description

• Support emerging domains, including ESG data governance, sustainability-related processes, and compliance readiness, by providing structured insights and practical recommendations.
• Oversee the full audit lifecycle—from risk assessment and planning to fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up—to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
• Strengthen the Group’s governance, risk, and control culture through trainings, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives, while mentoring team members to build capability, drive high performance, and support professional development.
• Lead End-to-End Audit Engagements
• Enhance audit methodologies, analytics-driven approaches, and reporting practices to improve audit quality, visibility of insights, and overall organisational impact.
• Evaluate business processes and internal controls, identify root causes, assess operational or financial impacts, and provide practical, value-adding recommendations that enhance performance and organisational resilience.
• Champion strong governance, risk awareness, and control discipline by actively promoting a consistent risk culture across the Group.
• Maintain an agile audit plan, updating coverage and priorities in response to emerging risks, significant business developments, and changes in the operating landscape.
• Build and sustain trusted partnerships with Business Units and Corporate Functions, influencing decision-making on governance, risk management, and internal controls.
• Lead or support advisory engagements, special reviews, whistleblowing investigations, and ERM initiatives, including the design and enhancement of business processes and internal controls for new areas or systems.
• Facilitate strategic conversations and manage complex or sensitive matters with professionalism, sound judgement, and clear communication.
• Formulate a risk-based Annual Audit Workplan that aligns with strategic priorities, business objectives, and key operational risks.
• Present key observations and insights to senior management and the Audit Committee, and drive accountability for timely implementation of agreed management actions.
• Translate industry benchmarks, leading practices, and emerging risks into practical, data-driven insights that support business decision-making.
• Partner with Business Units and Corporate Functions to perform pre- and post-implementation reviews of new processes, system rollouts, and organisational changes to ensure control readiness and operational effectiveness.
• Integrate insights from financial performance, risk trends, fraud indicators, and management feedback to ensure the plan remains relevant, comprehensive, and value-adding.
• Stay abreast of technology trends, cybersecurity and fraud risks, regulatory developments, and leading GRC practices, integrating these insights into audit planning, execution, and advisory work.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of SAP is required.
• Travel: Willingness to travel internationally, approximately 15–20% of the time.
• Knowledge of maritime, data centre, and real estate industries is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members, foster high performance, and promote a strong control culture.
• Proficient in data analytics to generate actionable insights, quantify risks, and support recommendations.
• Skilled at facilitating strategic discussions, managing sensitive or complex issues, influencing stakeholder adoption, and championing risk-informed practices.
• Able to operate independently while effectively leading and developing a high-performing audit team.
• Experience in IT audits—including IT General Controls, Application & Security Controls, IT Infrastructure and Networks, Cybersecurity, Cloud/Platform Governance, and emerging technologies such as AI and automation—is highly advantageous.
• Confident and proactive, with the ability to build trusted relationships across business units and corporate functions.
• Strong skills in business process evaluation, internal controls, risk assessment, and audit methodology.
• Skilled in engaging stakeholders, facilitating strategic discussions, and influencing decision-making at senior levels.
• Additional relevant qualifications—such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or certifications in risk management or corporate governance—are highly advantageous.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English, with strong report-writing and executive-level presentation skills.
• Ability to read and speak Chinese is advantageous.
• Demonstrate agility, sound judgement, and strategic thinking in navigating diverse and evolving business environments, ensuring audit insights remain relevant, timely, and actionable.
• Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
• Resilience & Agility: Able to lead effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments, managing multiple priorities while maintaining quality and impact.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analytics tools (e.g., IDEAS, Power BI, advanced Excel) to analyse large datasets and generate actionable insights for audit engagements.
• Professional certification in Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant internal audit experience across commercial organisations and/or professional services firms, with proven team leadership and supervisory experience.
