Estimator

Description

• Handle budgeting, unit pricing, pipe sizing, and general code compliance with a solid understanding of plumbing, piping, and HVAC duct systems.
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals for compliance with job requirements and specifications.
• Provide conceptual design and pricing support for both HVAC and plumbing.
• Participate in bid finalization and review, as necessary.
• Develop project general conditions and other estimate scope summaries, schedules, and necessary deliverables.
• Estimate HVAC and plumbing projects and change orders to align with corporate profit guidelines and project requirements.
• Survey potential projects to identify optimal pricing solutions.
• Maintain internal and external communication responsibilities with appropriate contacts.
• Accurately identify, quantify, and record piping and equipment associated with various mechanical systems.
• Complete system take-offs according to current B&K processes.
• Consider and evaluate potential value engineering options and costs with the B&K team.
• Manage and bid on multiple projects simultaneously, creating detailed estimates with appropriate material, labor, and subcontractor selections.
• Review all bid documents and seek clarifications during the bid process to ensure an accurate bid.

Requirements

• Organizational skills to curate documents related to work orders and personnel.
• Mechanical knowledge and project management skills.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) in Engineering/HVAC or Construction Business Management is preferred.
• Aptitude for learning new systems.
• Experience in life science/pharma projects is required.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction office environment.
• Proficiency in pipe takeoff software.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel and the ability to assemble detailed quotes.
• Consistent dependability and availability.
• Experience with mechanical, estimation, bidding, blueprint, estimating software, preconstruction, construction estimating, Autobid, and Fastpipe.
