Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are searching for an additional Regulatory Engineer to join our fuel recycling team. The role focuses on navigating the regulatory framework for licensing recycling and fuel fabrication facilities while also participating in the engineering design of those technologies.
The Regulatory Engineer will develop an in-depth knowledge of relevant Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements and apply Oklo’s philosophy to complex regulatory challenges. Specific work areas will be determined by the candidate’s experience, background, and interests.
Core duties include researching and interpreting regulations, generating and reviewing licensing documentation, managing deliverables for internal and external regulatory activities, and interfacing with technical staff to review material. The engineer will also analyze regulatory documents, contribute to technical reports for regulators and external bodies, and perform design‑engineering tasks such as providing feedback to fast‑iterating design teams and documenting work using modern tools.
Oklo seeks a candidate who is passionate about clean energy, nuclear fuel recycling, and advanced fission, learns quickly, thinks creatively, and thrives in a fast‑paced, highly iterative startup environment. Strong writing skills in a modern active voice are essential.
Minimum qualifications include experience generating, contributing to, or evaluating NRC license applications or amendments and a solid technical background. Bonus qualifications are experience with fuel fabrication or fuel‑cycle facilities in commercial or DOE settings.

Remote employees are required to travel to Oklo’s headquarters in Santa Clara, CA twice per quarter for team meetings, off‑sites, and other company events.
Compensation ranges from $85,000 to $175,000 and includes flexible time off, equity, competitive pay, 401k, health insurance, FSA, flexible work hours, and additional benefits.
