In addition, occasional duties include fence repairs, assistance with HVAC and refrigeration systems, key cutting, trash collection, lawn care, pool cleaning, and carpet shampooing. All work is performed in accordance with Fair Housing laws and company standards.
The South Oak Crossing community in Charlotte, NC is seeking a full‑time, non‑exempt Maintenance Technician who reports to the Maintenance Manager. The role is essential to the community’s operation, ensuring that all electrical and mechanical equipment, appliances, and building structures remain functional and safe for residents. Consistent attendance is critical to maintain workflow and effective communication within the maintenance team.
Candidates must be able to read and write English, possess general mechanical aptitude, and hold a valid driver’s license when required. Required certifications include an EPA Freon Recovery certificate, an HVAC certificate, and current Fair Housing certification. Preferred qualifications include advanced training from a mechanical or technical trade school and prior experience as a service manager for a multi‑unit property.
The position involves physical activities such as walking, bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crawling, stretching, climbing stairs or ladders, and extended standing, along with exposure to weather, noise, dust, heat, chemicals, and heavy lifting. Employees will use a key‑cutting machine, hand tools, various mechanical and electrically powered equipment, and lawn‑care machinery to complete tasks.
Work hours align with the community’s operating schedule, and the technician may be placed on a rotating on‑call roster for evening, weekend, and holiday emergencies.
