This role will be required to write and manage technical specifications (template, and project specific) for low and high voltage electrical equipment, up to 500kV, electrical engineering design, studies and project support for Enerven’s substation and renewables program.
In addition, this role is responsible for providing expertise and technical authority of electrical engineering studies for substations and transmission and will also be responsible to mentor and develop engineers within the Electrical Engineering discipline, as well as lead the development and delivery of processes, procedures and templates to improve the efficiency and quality of engineering output. You will have a key working relationship with the business development team supporting complex projects to ensure optimal solutions by assisting in preparation of conceptual designs, estimates and project proposals and the ability to work closely with and provide guidance to engineers, designers and drafters.
Reporting to the Lead Electrical Engineer, the Principal Electrical Engineer is responsible for developing designs associated with HV substations and renewables systems including cable rating, insulation coordination, earthing and lighting.
Enerven specialises in the design, construction, and maintenance of electrical, telecommunications, and renewable infrastructure, with specific expertise and experience relating to South Australia’s distribution and transmission network infrastructure.
You will be required to have detailed knowledge of substation design and engineering principles, lighting, lightning, earthing, HV cable engineering, solar design and transmission. You will also be competent with technical management skills in leading, structuring and delivering processes, procedures and templates along with estimating skills for engineering and have a vast knowledge in developing and reviewing protection and control schemes for distance, differential, and feeder over current and other common protections and major substation equipment.
