The Senior Estimator will work in a dynamic, deadline‑driven environment, producing accurate construction estimates and proposals for complex repipe and remodel projects in large high‑rise and multi‑family communities. Based in our Alexandria, Virginia office, the hybrid role reports to the Director of Estimating and collaborates with estimators, engineering, pre‑construction, marketing, and operations teams to meet business goals.
- Analyze project plans/specs to define plumbing, hydronic, fire‑protection scope in multi‑family buildings
- Apply corporate bid strategy, including means‑and‑methods, targeting, and scheduling
- Audit team’s scope, estimate, and proposal work for alignment with bid documents and strategy
- Build client relationships and present proposals throughout the bid process
- Oversee standardized estimating software and processes to streamline estimates and proposals
- Track actual vs. estimated costs to refine future bid strategies and maintain cost history
- Generate reports on estimating performance against established KPIs
- Manage subcontractor database, review work scopes, and evaluate quotes for best value
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality and accuracy of deliverables
- Collaborate with Operations and Pre‑construction teams to develop solutions for job opportunities

Candidates must have at least five years of estimating experience in plumbing or mechanical disciplines, managing projects up to $100 million, and possess strong technical writing, project management, and software skills such as RSMeans or Quotesoft. A high school diploma or GED is required, with a bachelor’s degree, professional certification, or related experience considered a plus.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in plumbing, mechanical or related estimating, managing teams on office and site
- Advanced knowledge of industry best practices and code/standard requirements
- Proficient technical writing for detailed proposals and stakeholder communications
- Project management experience handling tight timelines and multiple projects
- Proficiency with estimating/design software such as RSMeans or Quotesoft
- High School diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent English communication and presentation skills
- Basic computer skills: email, internet, Word, Excel
- Ability to travel nationally to sites up to one week at a time
- Ability to walk regularly, climb stairs occasionally, and lift/carry up to 25 lb
- Preferred: related Bachelor’s degree, professional certification, MEP drafting experience, Spanish proficiency, trade or military background
