The Gas Directional Drill Operator/Locator safely operates directional drills or locates utilities for a gas drill crew to install and service mainline conduit via HDD. The role supports the line team, prepares jobs, verifies utilities, manages drilling fluids, monitors drill head depth, and ensures bore shots are executed without damaging underground assets.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, one year of relevant experience, a valid CDL Class A with tanker endorsement, and OSHA 10 certification. Preferred candidates have five or more years of experience, familiarity with Vermeer or Ditchwitch directional drills, and proficiency using Subsite or Digitrack locating equipment.
Work is performed in field environments and requires frequent bending, squatting, climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, and exposure to extreme weather. Employees must maintain clear vision, precise hand‑eye coordination, and color‑identification abilities.
