  • Business Partnering: Partner with Commercial, Sales, and Branch Operations teams to drive performance, profitability, and growth.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to junior finance business partners and analysts, supporting their growth and development.
  • The SFPB will be responsible for managing the 3 x Finance Business Partners.
  • Performance Management & Analysis: Deliver high-quality analysis of business performance, identifying risks, opportunities, and improvement areas.
  • Strategic Finance Leadership: Support the implementation, delivery and on-going tracking of key strategic initiatives.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Manage the financial planning process and own the production of the rebate budget and re-forecasts.
  • Decision Support: Provide financial insight and challenge on pricing strategy, cost inflation, supplier rebates, discounts, and margin optimisation.
  • Track margin and EBITDA benefits resulting in category deals.
  • Support supplier cost increase negotiations through detailed modelling.
  • Performance evaluations: Influence decision-making through financial modelling, scenario planning, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Owning the rebate forecast process and investigating ways to continually improve the accuracy and efficiency of the process and working closely with the Rebate team to report on cash collection.
  • Process improvement: Champion continuous improvement in reporting, systems, and processes to enhance business insight and efficiency.

  • Experience managing or coaching a small team is highly desirable.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial insight into business action.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage non-finance stakeholders.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders, with a clear and accessible approach. Comfortable presenting to senior management.
  • Confident stakeholder manager, able to challenge and influence senior leaders across Sales, Operations, and Commercial.
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent accounting qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of pricing, margin management, and supplier rebate structures.
  • Proven track record in a commercial finance/business partnering role, ideally within builders’ merchants, distribution, construction supplies, or a related trade sector.
  • Relationship Building: Proven experience in building and maintaining strong, productive relationships across various departments. Ability to influence and challenge stakeholders in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
